The book for my 09 450 XC-F says change the oil every 3 hours or every 5ish gallons of fuel. I kinda of go in between and change the oil every 2-3 rides depending how tough/fast they are which is 5-8 hours for me. And I change the oil filter every other oil change. The Owners Manual shows 15 hr oil change intervals. Some guys do just a drain (no filters/screens) at 15, then 500 EXC, RC8, KTM 690, 790, 990, 1190, 1290. KTM
My last oil and filter change was exactly one year ago. I am using Motul 300V 4T 15W-50 in this bike. I currently have only 1200 miles on this oil. I ride the bike at least 60-70 miles every time I take it out, so the oil always reaches the full operating temperature. Now, the owner's manual says to change the oil at least once a year.
Yes, the performance of your shock with those kind of miles is significantly worse than a rebuilt shock with fresh oil. I promise their is a service interval for your adventurous bike. you can justify your cheapness and laziness any which way you want but your shock isn’t working as good as it could be.
